If there is one thing those of us in the Cincinnati Oh real estate industry know about, it is relocation. We deal with clients on a regular basis who are either moving to a home in Cincinnati or from an Absolute condo or who are moving out of the city to a new home. Moving anywhere is a bit of a consuming process, and we tend to see the same mistakes happen again and again. Let's take a look at some tips which will help your relocation go a lot more smoothly.
Get Rid of Junk!
Most humans have some degree of pack rat instincts in them. It works well when you have been in the same home for years; you can store things away and never see them again.
When you move, though, you have to account for all that surplus material in your house, from papers to furniture. The last thing you want to do is pay to move items that you will no longer be using, or put the effort into moving all your junk into that house for sale in Scarborough which you just bought.
If you are the kind of person who hates the thought of waste, the first thing to do is hold a yard sale. A lot of communities organize sales on a large scale, so see if you can take advantage of that. If you don't manage to sell all your old furniture and other clutter in the sale, why not thinking about donating it to a local thrift store or goodwill? And of course, there is always the option of the dump!
If you are feeling really radical and unattached, you might even think about getting rid of all your current goods and starting over. Take stock of what you own and estimate how old it is, and whether or not it will need replacing soon. Better to deal with that now than move your old sofa just to get rid of it in six months!
It's worth mentioning here that you need to keep in mind the size of your new home. If you are moving from a three bedroom house in Cincinnati to Oakville homes, you will definitely need to down size a bit!
Get your Finances in Order
One thing a lot of people forget about when it comes to a move are their regular finances. You will be moving away from the branch of your bank you are used to using, if not away from the jurisdiction of that bank altogether. It's helpful to get your finances set up before you leave, whether that's for your new condominium in downtown Toronto or to another city in Ohio. Ask your bank rep what he or she recommends in your new town; often, they can help get funds transferred for you.
Scout out your Frequent Stops
You can take a lot of the headaches out of moving by checking out your new surroundings ahead of time. Find out what businesses have taken out a commercial mortgage close by; where are you likely to do your grocery shopping, go out to eat, and so on. Knowing beforehand will save you some time as you are getting settled in.
